What is Netritva Sadhana?

Netritva Sadhana is a Certificate Course in Socio-Political Leadership. It is conducted as a week-long residential programme to develop and hone the Socio-Political Leadership skills of the participants. The 5-day programme also includes at least one field visit. Each day begins early with a yoga session and the days normally end with either informal discussion sessions among participants or cultural performance.

Who founded this programme?

The Netritva Sadhana programme is held under the aegis of Indian Institute of Democratic Leadership which is an initiative of Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP). RMP is South Asia’s leading training & research centre for socio-political leaders.

Founded in the year 1982, the Prabodhini is a concept ideated much ahead of its times. Inspired by the vision of Late Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay the idea was implemented first at the behest of noteworthy and exemplary parliamentarian Shri Rambhau Mhalgi. Later on, Late Shri Pramod Mahajan, the charismatic senior BJP leader helped realize the dream by creating Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini campus at Bhayandar. Shri Mahajan also became the first Chairman of the Prabodhini. RMP gradually diversified into capacity building of various stakeholders of different institutions and organizations under Chairman Late Shri Gopinath Munde, Director General Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, and Executive Director Shri Ravindra Sathe.

Currently, Shri Aniruddha Deshpande is the Chairman of RMP. Three of the managing committee members Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Shri Chandrakant Patil and Shri Vinod Tawde resigned after getting elected in the Maharashtra government.

What is the need of this programme?

Netritva Sadhana was born out of an acute need for a formal training course or a programme for young professionals and individuals considering either a full-fledged career or active volunteering or association with a social or political organization. Till then except Netritva Sadhana there existed no such formal training program to systematically and structurally introduce youngsters to the world of social work or activism or politics.

What is the purpose of this programme?

Swami Vivekananda, the legendary Hindu monk, who is also an inspiration of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, had great faith in the youth of our nation. He once said, “My faith is in the younger generation, the modern generation, out of them will come my workers. they will work out the whole problem, like lions.” Sharing this belief, ‘Netritva Sadhana’ is a journey to produce enlightened citizenry.

What is the USP of the programme?

The Unique Selling Proposition (USP) of the Netritva Sadhana programme lies in its twin strength areas i.e. well thought out and thoroughly researched and applied curriculum; and the presence of notable experts, functional practitioners and leading social and political leaders as resource persons to deliver various sessions.

Who is eligible to attend the Netritva Sadhana programme?

What is the batch size of the programme?

The batch size for Netritva Sadhana is limited to 40 participants selected from amongst those who apply. Selection is done on a first come, first serve basis and applications are closed as soon as 40 participants are confirmed.

What is the fee for the programme?

The programme fee per participant is Rs 15,00/- only.

What is the candidate selection criteria for the Netritva Sadhana programme?

The participants of the Netritva Sadhana programme are carefully selected after a careful review of their application to assess their educational as well as the professional background to ensure a minimum level of sincerity, commonality from a learning & intelligence point of view and yet maintaining a diversity to maximize peer learning. However, the organizers hold complete right to select or reject any application without providing any specific reason.

What do the participants gain from the Netritva Sadhana programme?

A successful Netritva Sadhana participant is one who attends and actively participates in all the programme sessions with attention and due sincerity. A successful Netritva Sadhana participant can expect a five-fold gain from the programme as listed below –

Are there any rules for the participants of the Netritva Sadhana programme?

It is expected that all participants will adhere to general professional conduct as expected in an academic setting. The decision of the Administrative Head of the programme is common and binding on all participants of the programme.

  • The first ever program saw an enthusiastic response from individuals from very qualified backgrounds like IIT, FMS, XLRI, NLU etc and with a genuine hunger of knowledge. 
  • NS1 also saw resource persons like Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, Lt. Gen. D.V. Shekatkar, Shri Sudheendra Kulkarni, Dr Rakesh Sinha. 
  • Smt Smriti Irani was the chief guest of the valedictory ceremony.
2nd 13th to 16th September 2012 Fun World, Jodhpur
  • Shri Nirmal Gehlot, a participant from NS1, a social worker and an educationist by profession proposed to organize NS2 at his home place Jodhpur. 
  • NS2 expanded the envelope further by interspersing the learning with cultural breaks which gave a glimpse of rich Rajasthani heritage.

5th 7th to 9th August 2015 Narmada Retreat Resort, Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh
  • NS-5 observed the participation of 44 delegates from 13 states of the country. 
  • The participants belonged to various diverse professional and educational background including B.Tech, MBA, CA, lawyer, chef, science, arts, commerce graduates and few political aspirants as well.
6th 11th to 15th May 2016 Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre, Boulevard Road, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir
  • In this edition of Netritva Sadhana, a total of 32 participants were selected through an extensive screening process based on their sincerity of purpose, achievements and learning, and other unique personality traits. 
  • Out of 32 selected, 18 participants were from the state of Jammu and Kashmir and the remaining from the states of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. 
  • The five-day residential programme was educative, informative as well as fun-filled for the participants.

  • In this edition of Netritva Sadhana, total of 30 youngsters participated
8th 27th June to 1st July 2018 SIRD, Kahikuchi, Guwahati, Assam
  • This edition of Netritva Sadhana had a special focus on the participation of eight states of the North Eastern Region of India. 
  • NS-8 had 38 participants belonging to Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Assam and West Bengal.
  • Soumen Purkayasthha mooted the idea of conducting NS 8 in Guwahati and coordinated this five-day residential programme. 
  • Sh. Manas Deka was also supportive of the overall coordination in NS-8.

Who are the resource persons in the Netritva Sadhana programme?

Eminent academicians, popular social-political leaders, learned retired government officials and others who are subject experts as well as are subject practitioners are invited to deliver the curriculum of Netritva Sadhana. The resource persons are provided with an advisory to ensure that the session is interactive, participative and strictly around the topic under consideration.

Who can organize the Netritva Sadhana programme? Where can the Netritva Sadhana programme be organized?

Keeping intact the academic rigour and the underlying learning commitment the Academic Board has in past accepted proposals from enterprising Netritva Sadhana alumnus to take the Netritva Sadhana programme to their locations and become the organizer and facilitate the operational arrangements at the location. However, with the increase in the number of such requests, the Academic Board has come out with a formal process to consider such requests.
